Another title!

(rant ahead...but this might actually be the reason why this site seems to go downhill)
Points.. Aha, now I think I finally got it...
Until now I didn't really notice or care about the whole points story, since I'm not a big fan of virtual currencies, but only yesterday I've discovered that part of deviantart that's loaded with people ,literally, selling favorites, watches and views or go begging for points wherever there's the chance to do so...
I admit I was tempted and I actually donated to some place for a feature to see if I would get some exposure, maybe some people who enjoy the kind of stuff that I draw would notice my works and come take a look..
But the taste of that try out was quite bitter..
For short I won't ever be doing it again and I'll ask that person to take me off the feature list..
This is not why I'm here... to crave for watches, favs, llamas .
Maybe when I was younger,I was hoping for some day to get a million views,it felt like it was a goal and made me think 'you're a good artist if you have many visitors' ...but I think that's absolutely pointless now..(I guess it was a phase of teen age, when you want to stand out somehow ).
I don't think that way anymore.. you can have only a few visitors or watchers, and that would be just enough to make you a good artist if those few people truly enjoy your works.
I'm here to share the things that make me happy and hopefully bring a smile on someone else's face as well.. Every true favorite means a lot, because I'm hoping that person enjoyed the picture.
A nice picture can sometimes brighten up someone who's in a bad state,or even motivate them to draw as well..
That's my true goal.. to hopefully have some feel nice when seeing my drawing.
And if you watch me,I really hope it is for the same reason, and because you want to come back some day and see more stuff that might make you happy..
I think that's what my gallery is about for the most part..
I do have to earn a living out of art, because that's the path that I chose, but even so,I try to hope that my work made someone happy.
This is deviantart, not deviantTRADE ,where you come asking for points in return for a fav or two..
That's really not what art is about in my opinion! If you don't really see something in a picture, then there's no use faving it,that's not the point.
It's not that I'm against people who want points for different stuff. I grew in a family where we never use credit cards,so until I was 18 I could only watch and hope that some day I might get myself a premium membership. I just simply wished for one. I got my first premium after winning a contest.
So maybe many people rely on those points to get a premium,or different stuff on deviantart, without involving real money, and that's really ok in my opinion.
I certainly would have done the same when I was 16,try and gather points for a sub or something...
but probably not by 'selling favs' or watches...
Selling art for points is ok,because you actually provide the buyer with a drawing,so it's selling art..
I don't usually draw for points, unless there's an offer I can't refuse and I want to get rid of what I had left from randomly donated points.
I'll certainly never need points again..I'll probably just donate what I have left after having bought that premium, and I don't want anything in return, really.

I could go on about this subject all day,but I guess it just happens.. some people really need and want those points for whatever reason,so I'm not judging anyone.
It's just that selling/buying some short attention kind of perverts the whole concept of enjoying art..

I'd like to thank everyone who decided to give me a favorite and/or a watch. Like I said,it means a lot to me  and I sincerely hope my drawings made you happy.
I don't want to be the best. I'm happy with being good enough to make someone smile.
If I'll ever end up being popular,it will hopefully be because of many people enjoying what I draw, not because they were paid by someone or got something in return to come to my gallery.

I love you and thank you for supporting me unconditionally!

I agree. I like it better when people look at my art cause they're interested in it or if they're a fan of whatever it is I made the fanart for.

I would rather be found out through groups and my own then have to buy it just to show my work and as for points I don't really have an opinion other then :iconravegwahplz:

I rather gain the views, comments and favorites by being found out on my own rather than buying it. D:
I try working as hard as I can and nowadays, it's benefiting me. Heehee.

Aww Q//Q thank you very much for the kind words! And thank you for taking time to read this journal~
I sometimes get really busy with work and school so I'm not able to reply and thank everyone all the time, but I really appreciate all the true support and I'll try to stay put on my position and hope for deviantart to become better some day. Hopefully it's just a phase, and people will also understand this and reconsider what's actually more worthy, the art itself or the popularity.:aww:

I know what you mean. This only makes it harder for artists to make progress off their art if they have to buy it =\ and its not worth it really since it won't last long.
XD and its cool! I have been busy with work and the social life that I can't really do much anymore myself TT

True story, I do believe that buying people fav and watches for points is useless and doesn't make you grow as an artist, you need true visionaries and critics to feel that you are indeed growing and make you feel like you are part of something for real, I love all my watchers because I know they are there to give back, to let me know if my art is truly worth viewing and important to them, if a piece doesn't speak to the heart why bother faving it or give comments right? I do share your opinion :D

I couldn't agree more ^^
Thank you very much for supporting and reading the journal
Wish you all the best! ^^

Wow...even dev has it's screwed up people.
But thank you for the amazing journal entry!!! I feel like I got the wisest words of wisdom ever... (Though my profile may not say so, I'm a fairly young deviant, I just prefer not give my exact age out so people don't judge my art by my age)

Aww,you are very welcome ^//^ thank you as well for taking your time to read this,I'm really glad if my journal can help in any way.
I really wish this site would not promote as much "traffic selling" as it does and concentrate on the true reason why it's called an art site.
But ,oh well.. I guess this was bound to happen at some point, with all those points and stuff..
It's important that we stick to our principles, even if things around us change for the worse.

Ahaha, I used to say that I was older too :XD:

I completely to sticking to principals, I definitely think it's worth it to say what you feel and stick by you're friends sides. :)
